This could be something small, like a bead or a stone.<\/li>\n<li>A cold or a dry nose.<\/li>\n<li>Ageing. Older people have thinner blood vessels.<\/li>\n<li>A broken blood vessel.<\/li>\n<li>Taking blood thinners combined with a broken blood vessel. Blood thinners will make the blood thinner and flow faster. This could mean it will take longer for the bleeding to stop.<\/li>\n<li>Not using nasal spray properly or using it for too long.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n"},{"title":"What can I do about a nosebleed myself?","content":"<ul>\n<li>Find a quiet place to sit down.<\/li>\n<li>Blow your nose into a tissue. Start off with blowing your nose well, but do so carefully.<\/li>\n<li>Pinch your nose with your thumb and index finger for about five minutes. Lean forward slightly, making sure the blood doesn&#8217;t get into your throat. Otherwise you may start to feel nauseous.<\/li>\n<li>Breathe calmly.<\/li>\n<li>Keep pinching your nose for at least five minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pinch your nose for another five minutes if the bleeding doesn&#8217;t stop after the first time.<\/p>\n"},{"title":"When should I go and see the doctor for a nosebleed?","content":"<ul>\n<li>Contact your GP if the nosebleed doesn\u2019t stop after pinching your nose for at least five minutes for a second time.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re taking blood thinners.<\/li>\n<li>If you have frequent nosebleeds.
